Clavia Nord Piano and Chamberlin soundbanksStage piano and retro soundbank announced
Clavia, the manufacturers of the popular Nord Lead keyboard, have announced a group of new products and sound banks. The new Nord Piano is an 88-key instrument with weighted hammer action, which stores its sound banks in 512MB of flash memory. The piano features built‑in effects including phaser, flanger and chorus, as well as an amp simulator with three speaker models and overdrive. The Piano Pedal accessory has also been released to accompany the new piano, giving the instrument the functionality of all three pedals present on a grand: sustain, sustenuto and soft. Clavia have also acquired a license to use sounds from the Chamberlin library in their sound banks. The Chamberlin was the first commercially available tape-replay instrument, utilising a rack of tapes to play back recordings of various instruments. The Nord Chamberlin library contains 15 different sounds at 44.1kHz 24-bit, is available for free, and is compatible with all keyboards that use the Nord Sample Library format. No price is available for the Nord Piano at the moment, so be sure to check www.soundtech.co.uk/nord in the coming month.
